Primary Dept Report 2009

Our Primary department’s objectives:
1. To foster a spirit of worshipping God in the children
2. To help the children to live out their Christian life
3. To foster a more personal & closer relationship with the children & their family

Thank God for the 8 children and 9 teachers in our dept in 2009. Thru the weekly Sunday School lessons and the many special events within the Junior Sunday School, both children and teachers had opportunities to learn, to grow and to serve.

Our department was in charged of putting together the Combined Dept Easter program on April 12. We put up a puppet show depicting the events surrounding the resurrection of Christ. It was not easy getting everything ready but children and teachers who were involved enjoyed putting up this puppet show from start to end. Judging from the very captivated audience, they enjoyed it too.

Gradually during the year, our teachers have been moving away from doing worksheets during every Sunday School lesson. The purpose of this change is to give the teachers freedom to choose how they want to review their lessons. Instead of worksheets, teachers can now choose to prepare review questions, games or art & craft or whatever appropriate ways they feel that can reinforce their lesson and make it more interesting.

Thank God for helping us to improve the children’s bible reading program for too. Now the children, not just read the selected verse daily but that at the end of each week of reading, they would do a fun activity to test their understanding of what they read. Since we introduced this, the children seem more motivate to read the Bible. In the end, we hope that the children will not only make it their habit to read the Bible daily but to grow to enjoy learning directly from God’s Word. May the Lord help us.
